Duties:

Position Summary:

The Biology Department at our client is looking for a qualified Senior Research Associate with expertise in protein expression, purification, and assay development to understand mechanisms of disease and treatment. The successful candidate will join a multi-disciplinary team and support our structural biology platform in drug discovery effort by protein cloning, expression and purification, and biochemical and cell-based assay development to translate SAR insight into testable hypotheses. This senior research associate will play a major role in performing, improving, and automating protein expression workflows, from cloning to purification. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and can collaborate in a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities:

  • This Senior Research Associate will play a major role in performing, improving, and automating protein expression workflows, from cloning, purification, to characterization.
  • Design and execute protein expression and purification experiments in a variety of expression systems, from bacteria to mammalian cells
  • Validate expressed proteins using SDS-PAGE, and western blot
  • Performing in vitro and cell-based potency and ELISA assays
  • Independently conduct experiments; maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes; and work in collaboration with team members within and across departments
  • Contribute to understanding protein structure and function that drives drug discovery efforts.
  • Present findings to the immediate team and broader company
  • Opportunities for new technology development with a strong team of scientists

 

Skills:

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience directly working with relevant molecular biology and protein methods, including cloning methods, primer/vector design, plasmid isolation and sequencing, protein expression and purification in a variety of expression systems, from bacteria to mammalian cells
  • Experience using an ELN
  • Interest in laboratory automation, data analysis, and data visualization
  • Experience with biochemical analytical methods and assay development
  • Good understanding of protein biochemistry, enzymology, and protein purification processes
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively on cross-functional projects teams
  • Excellent oral, presentation, and written communication skills
Education:
  • Master’s degree in life sciences, Biochemistry, Biophysics or a related area
