We are currently seeking a hands-on Engineering Test Technician to support one of our leading medical device clients in Plymouth, Minnesota. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy laboratory work, mechanical testing, and working alongside engineers in a collaborative R&D environment.
Position Summary
The Engineering Test Technician will perform a variety of laboratory and mechanical testing activities on medical devices to support product development and verification efforts. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and an interest in building a long-term career within the medical device industry.
The position consists of approximately 85% hands-on laboratory work and 15% documentation and reporting, requiring candidates to be comfortable working in a fast-paced engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical, electrical, conditioning, dimensional, OD, and visual testing on medical devices.
- Execute testing in accordance with written protocols, work instructions, and engineering procedures.
- Accurately document test results using Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
- Communicate observations, data, and test results clearly with engineering teams.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure a clean, organized work environment.
- Follow all safety procedures and utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Operate laboratory equipment including:
- Calipers
- MTS testing systems
- Multimeters
- Digital thermometers
- Force gauges
- Cognex systems
- LabVIEW
- Standard hand tools
- Assist engineers with test setup, fixture preparation, and troubleshooting activities.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory.
Required Qualifications
- 1–4 years of relevant technical, laboratory, manufacturing, or testing experience, or equivalent post-secondary education.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience documenting technical work is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the medical device industry.
- Experience performing product testing or device assembly.
- Previous experience in an R&D laboratory or engineering testing environment.
- Associate's degree (AA/AS) or technical certification preferred.
